New shoes, please.

If you were to see me five years ago, and what I was wearing you would honestly be so surprised. Over the last couple years my style has really changed (for the better, obviously). During high school my wardrobe consisted of hoodies, yoga pants and Uggs. Basic, was my middle name. But really, who has a style in high school?

It wasn't until I started working at Ann Taylor Loft I discovered the world of fashion. I was surrounded by people who loved fashion, and of course ridiculously adorable clothing. Slowly, I started stepping out of my comfort zone one article of clothing at a time.

Fast forward to this year, I have really expanded my wardrobe. My high school self would never be caught dead in heels.. anything above an inch was a no. But here I am today, rocking what are now my new obsession.

This was my first time ordering shoes from online.. and it was a total success. I needed a sturdy heel to wear at work that wasn't to high but gave me some height at the same time. I searched everywhere and then came across these from DSW. Before ordering anything from online I read the reviews.. all of them. These shoes unfortunately did not have any reviews, so I had to gamble. Luckily though, my gamble paid off! I paid close attention to the product information and compared it to shoes I already own. I am normally a size 9.5/10 and so I purchased a 9.5 due to the fact my wedges are 9.5's. They're a little big by the heel, but I know for a fact my wide foot would not fit into a 9!

Overall, I adore them and they're a perfect staple piece for my closet. I'm even considering ordering the brown pair (sorry, bank account). Take a look how I paired them with my favorite camouflage pants from the Loft Outlet.

Steal That Style

It's Thursday already can you believe it? This week is flying by. Actually, scratch that, this month is flying by! August is halfway over and I can already hear girls getting giddy for pumpkin spice season (myself included).

That being said with Fall approaching, retails stores will start getting blazers back in stock. I happen to be a sucker for blazers. Any color, any pattern. I am a firm believer that every woman should have at least 3 neutral colored blazers in their closet plus a fun patter/color. I purchased a gray blazer from the Loft Outlet recently and needed some inspiration. I logged onto Pinterest and did some searching. I actually came across this picture of Jessica Alba running errands in LA with this adorable outfit on. I thought to myself "I literally have this outfit". I went into my closet and started putting pieces together. Take a look below on how it turned out!

I love pop culture, so finding pieces that match what my favorite celebrities are wearing is icing on the cake. Here is a picture of me doing my "blogger" pose. Right after this picture was taken at least 4 cars drove by me and someone was walking their dog.. Don't mind me people! Bloggers gonna blog!

Alright, readers.. Who's officially over summer? I know I am! I remember as a kid, summer used to be my favorite season. I loved being off from school, being outside with my friends and just relaxing. Fast forward 12 years, I'd have to say summer is my least favorite season. What made me change my mind you may ask? Two words: Fall Fashion. As I grew up, and grew out of my tomboy phase, I realized I actually had passion for fashion (I'm so lame). Of course, pumpkin flavor everything helps too!

The other day on my weekly run to Target, I picked up September's issue of Style Watch. I studied the magazine, page by page and I'm here to give you a list of what's in and what you can expect to see in our local retail stores:
  • Mixing patterns  (it's easier than it seems, trust me)
  • Suede (real or fake)
  • Pops of bubblegum pink
  • Flare jeans!
  • Reworking your favorite white button up shirt
  • Sneakers (yes, sneakers)
  • Chunky heels
  • Platform sandals
  • Socks with shoes (Okay, shoebie)
  • A Victorian look, lots of lace and gilded details
  • '70s Plaid (My favorite)
  • Emerald Green
  • Crazy, bold accessories (bags, phone cases)
  • Braids!
  • '70s boho
  • Minimalist

That's not everything but I'm sure you get the idea! I am loving that the '70s are making a come back. Personally, the whole '70s look has always been my favorite. The pieces that I pulled from online are inspired from the magazine and are a little more reasonable for your wallet.. so both your closet and your bank account with say thank you! Can you believe it's been 5 months since my last blog post? Safe to say life has gotten in the way of me updating! I've been a busy bee at work, but I promise I will get back on track. Other than working, I have been BINGE watching Pretty Little Liars for the past month.. Don't even get me started with that, you'd be here all day. Trust me.

I wanted to give you guys a little update on thing's I've been currently loving (in-between work and Netflix of course).

Let's start with some music, shall we?

A few months ago on SNL, this lanky, British kid walks up on stage. He starts singing, and needless to say I fell in LOVE. Who is he you might ask? George Ezra. His music is a mixture of folk, blues and rock. By now you should know I love everything and anything British. So what would be different with him? Nothing, obviously. After that night I previewed a few of his songs on iTunes, went out to my local Target and purchased his album. Yes, I still buy CD's here and there. I'm a 90's kid, what can I say?

I'll be honest.. today's music sucks. No one is original anymore. Beats sound the same. People sing about the same things all the time. Hearing Ezra's music was like drinking iced tea on a hot summers day. Refreshing. Also, have I mentioned he's really attractive? I guess that's a plus. If you're looking for that perfect summer sound track to drive home from the beach too, take 10 minutes to yourself in your room, or whatever.. I highly suggest checking him out. I promise I you won't regret it.

Books. Yes, I read actual paper pages sometimes, not just blogs..

I am currently reading "Leave Your Mark" By Aliza Light. I'm about half way through the book and it's truly inspiring. Half the reason I am writing this post is because of that book. In her book she gives you tips and lessons in her experience as a top fashion publicist. She gives guidance for people just starting their career in a sassy, yet informative way. If you're feeling stuck, unmotivated or whatever with your career choice or maybe just life in general, pick up her book! It's got some great tips in there. I'll let you know how I feel about the whole book when I am done! (Yay, a future blog post!)

Fashion. Yay.

Now, I have mixed feelings about fashion right now. We all know I am a shopaholic. I need help, I know. I love clothes, shoes and just spending money in general. But being on this topic of fashion.. Do people follow trends anymore? Do we need to spend money to be in the now? I have no idea. I sure don't. Yikes, does that make me a bad blogger? I have no idea what is in right now and what's not. My biggest thing is, dressing for yourself. Yeah, trends are cool and all but they all go out eventually. So why not dress how you want? Here are a few things I'm currently loving in the fashion world.. trendy or not:

Birkenstock. Keds. Polka-Dots. Leggings (sorry not sorry). Tee Dresses. All my go to's. When I'm at work I like to think of myself as Spencer Hastings (I try). Outside of work, I would say I'm Emily Fields.. Pretty Little Liars' reference right there.

Below you can shop everything I talked about in today's post. Keep being amazing, readers. I'll update soon..
