Flat-lay of the day!

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

Oh Fall, Fall where are you? I'm not one to wish summer away, but I cannot wait to wear fall clothing. I miss the layers of adorable jackets mixed with cute printed tops underneath, and of course the perfect pair of shoes. The other day I did a post about transitioning your summer wardrobe into fall, and I found another great piece to do that with. Fall comes with great colors and patterns, so naturally this piece has both!

This outfit includes a Twill Moto Jacket, which happens to be a color called "Smokey Latte". It has a very dark peach tint to it. I have a 3/4 sleeve black and white lined shirt with two buttons on the shoulders, which gives it a little something extra when you take off the jacket. Paired with this are the most comfortable jeans you will ever try on. The relaxed skinny fit is perfect for wearing both a tight and loose fitting shirt. It has just enough of the bagginess it needs along with the straightness so it's not looking to slouchy.

I added a dark maroon gem necklace to make this really come together as a fall piece. If you added the jacket with a light colored shirt it could go both ways to a summer outfit. But, adding it with the darkness of the shirt and the necklace, plus the shoes, it really gives off the perfect beginning of fall outfit to own.

Everything in the picture is from Ann Taylor Loft. Obviously, because I adore everything we have in the store at the moment.

You're welcome.

Till next time!

This Or That Tuesday!

Tuesday, August 19, 2014

It's Tuesday and that means another round of this or that! This trend has been going on for a while and I'm seriously in love. Now, I've gotten many people's opinions on this, and I've gotten very different feedback. If you haven't heard of Birkenstock, open a new tab and Google them real quick. If you want to know the background story of Birkenstock, click here. The bottoms, or what they call the "footbed" is made from cork and natural latex. Which forms in the shape of your foot, giving you the best support possible. I wasn't sure what exactly it took to make one of these shoes, but going onto their website really gave me a new understanding to why they're priced so high. If you would like to read more about what goes into the footbed, click here. They have various types of shoes, it's hard to not find yourself the perfect pair. They have eleven different kinds of sandals.. Yes eleven! They also produce different shoes and clogs. Birkenstock has made it's way into Vogue which you can read the article here! They first made their debut appearance back in 1990 with Kate Moss. Which you can see the picture right below.

Look how young she looked! Obsessed with everything about this picture. They give off such a relaxed but chic look to them, and I believe that's why so many people have fallen for them.

However, by now you've probably seen the price tag. Ouch, right? Well, that's what you get when you have a hand full of celebs wearing an item. Plus with what they're made from and how they're made, they don't come cheap. But that's okay, I've found you another option if you're on a budget. I was in Payless the other day, window shopping because it's basically my past time. And I came across a pair of shoes from American Eagle Outfitters. I was like, holy cow they look identical to a pair of Birks!

I tried my normal size on and they fit perfectly. I loved the way they felt on my foot, super comfortable, and of course affordable.

In the past, American Eagle sold a few shoes that were really similar to Birkenstock so I wasn't to surprised when I saw them back in style.

I absolutely adore these shoes, either the true Birkenstock's or not. The style of them is so up my ally. You can rock them with a cute hippie chic maxi dress, leggings and a tunic, skinny jeans and a band graphic tee, and a maxi skirt. Whatever you choose to wear with them, I'm sure you'll rock them!

Till next time,

Featured On

Saturday, August 16, 2014

I've just been in the mood to blog today, so I decided to dedicate a blog post towards things I've been featured on. Since I could remember, I've always had a interest towards writing. Not stories, and not anything my English teachers told me to write about. But, things I was super passionate towards. About a year ago I decided I wanted to take my passion and make it something more. You've all read that I have been working in retail since I was 16 years old. I started as a sales associate at Delia's and proudly made my way to an assistant manger. At the time, I wasn't really focused on what I wanted to pursue in life. All I was interested in was buying clothing and money. Since the sixth grade I have also been interested in photography. You would see me carrying my camera everywhere I went and taking pictures of anything... Literally. When I put writing, photography, and fashion together, it was an obvious decision I should start a blog.

Social media is huge in this generation. It comes with many positive outcomes, and naturally many negatives as well. I got my Instagram shortly after Christmas 2012, and really just posted silly pictures of things I wasn't to sure of. But as I started following more and more people, I became super interested in posting pictures of my outfits. Fast forward to the beginning of 2014 I became really involved in posting what I wore. I began to gain follower after follower, and I've come in contact with many friendly people with the same passion.

I started posting pictures daily of my outfits, and soon came onto the trend of the "flat lay". A flat lay is where you lay all of your items you're wearing on the ground, bed, poster board or wherever you can in a specific way. Many people arrangement them in a way where you can really see the outfit clearly. Others put them together in a random formation. I love this trend and have gotten some really positive feedback from it. For example:

I put together a flat lay of my LOFT dress, a hat I got from Target, my Michael Kors watch, some Alex and Ani bracelets and my Gypsy Warrior Lennon glasses. To my surprise a few days later I check my Instagram news feed and see my picture pop up. Gypsy Warrior had re-posted my picture! I was in utter shock. I've waited for the day one of my favorite places had re-post something of mine, and that day, was the day. After a few hours the picture had over nine thousand likes. My picture? Over 9.000 likes? Oh my gosh! It was truly an inspiring moment for me.

Later on the company I work for Loft, was having a hashtag (#loveloft) where they gathered their favorite pictures off social media, and put it on their website. I had several pictures go up on the page, and it was definitely a confidence booster. I was lucky enough to even get my picture on the home page itself.

See the bottom right corner? That's me!

I started working for Loft exactly a year ago, and I can honestly say I love the company. I love the clothing, the atmosphere and the ladies I work with. I'm always trying my best to put together outfits for myself, and outfits other people would wear. So the other day when I blogged my fall transition outfits, I pinned it to my Pinterest (where you can find right here!) and I see I have a ton of notifications. I go on and see that the official Loft Pinterest actually pinned my picture!

Let's just say, I fangirled.

In conclusion, the past few years I've struggled to find who I am and what I want to do with my future. But moments like theses, have really inspired me to keep up with my blog and continue with my retail career. My goals for the future have now become a little clearer. I would love to become a full time blogger at a clothing company. Combining many things I love to do at once as a job would be amazing.

Being inspired made this post a little long, so I hope it was interesting enough to get through! Thank you to everyone who has always been supportive and continue to let me do what I love to do.

Till next time!

New York City Adventure

Friday, August 15, 2014

Happy Thursday everyone! Today on my day off I headed over to NYC to meet up with my Aunt and cousin. Luckily enough we had a beautiful day to wander around Central Park. Every opportunity I have, I try and go into the city. Really, it's an opportunity to break out my camera and do what I love the most. Take pictures! And you bet I did. I've been to Central Park before, but it's so big every time I go, I see something new. Which isn't always a bad thing! Our first stop was Strawberry Fields. Tons of people gathered around the John Lennon "Imagine" memorial. Music is being played in the background by an old guy with a groovy looking shirt on, and students behind me filming something for their school project. Each person has their own story and it's incredible that we each gather around the same thing to look back on the talented John Lennon together.

After waiting for our turn to take a picture of the memorial, we start walking along the path for something new. Later on we came across Belvedere Castle. This is the first time I've ever visited the castle, and boy what an amazing view we had over Central Park.

The people in those buildings in the background are so fortunate to have such a breathtaking view!

Snapped this pretty pictures on our way up the stairs to the top of the castle! I love black and whites, makes the picture look really look like it has a story behind it.

This big pond is called the Conservatory Water, located right by the Alice in Wonderland statue. Adorable little sails fly across the water, zipping past one another like they're racing. The view of the big buildings behind the tress are just my favorite!

After walking around, enjoying the various views of Central Park, we headed for lunch at Serendipity's! I've never been there before, so I was definitely excited. The food was delicious, and of course we indulged in the famous frozen hot chocolate. I can't even begin to write how amazing it was!

Overall, it was a beautiful day and visit into the city and I was super excited to go out and capture some pictures!

Till next time,

This Or That Tuesday!

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

T minus three days till the weekend! Hope everyone has had their daily intake of caffeine and sharks. I always look forward to shark week every year. They're scary, but so mesmerizing at the same time. Last summer I was lucky enough to find a sharks tooth on the beach! What are the chances of that happening? So anyways, I was doing my daily online window shopping and figured I would make another post about comparing prices! This upcoming fall season, I've been seeing a ton of stripes. Now, I do love stripes, but sometimes they don't like me. I've tried numerous articles of clothing with the pattern on, and I've realized you need to have something else with it. Weather it's a jean jacket, or a flannel top, it kind of breaks up the obnoxiousness of the repeating pattern. For example this:
- I found this picture from Pinterest and nearly fell on the floor. I LOVE this look. It's so cute, and simple but has such a statement to it. Even throwing on a gold necklace would put this outfit together perfectly.

Now, where do you find these dresses to be exact? A few places actually have them! I originally came across one a while ago in Target first. It was super cute and I regret not buying it because I went back and it was GONE! Boo, but it's okay I found something else to buy (surprise, surprise). But here are two examples below of where you can get them for two different prices..

Super similar right? Why pay so much when you can go around the corner for a little cheaper? I've stated before how much I am in love with Madewell, but sometimes their prices are a little out of my range. So I like to look around to see if I can find the same thing for a different price! Above is the dress from Madewell, which you can find here on sale for $79.99. If you're lucky they may be running a sale for 30%-40% off! Which is always fun! The next dress is from Old Navy, which came to only $29.94! That's well over 50% off! I hope to get my hands on one of these dresses soon, because I simple adore them. This is a great piece for your fall wardrobe if you ask me.

I love doing these comparison posts, and I will try to make them a weekly thing. Hope you've enjoyed them too!

Till next time,

Fall outfits already?!

Sunday, August 10, 2014

Crazy how time flies right? I feel like the other day I was super excited to break out the flip flops and shorts. Now, I'm counting down the days till I can wear my ankle and combat boots! Fall by far has to be my favorite season. I love everything about it; the weather, the way the leaves change and of course the fashion. Fall colors to me are always so flattering. You have the dark blues, the yellows mixed in with the browns and whites, and last but not least, the maroons! Since right now it's still is pretty warm outside to be decked out in long sleeves layered with a chambray shirt, you can start using one piece at a time. Use a chambray long sleeve top tucked in with a cute patterned belt with a pair of white shorts. Don't forget to add a statement necklace along with it! See the example below!

This is probably my go to outfit. I am a huge fan of chambray and of course cheetah. You can get all these pieces pretty much everywhere. The Gap, Old Navy and the LOFT. The shoes are found at the LOFT for the fall collection, but Madewell also sells a similar style.

Now that we have an adorable casual summer night outfit, here's what we can do to transition a chambray shirt into a perfect fall evening outfit.

I put these outfits together the other day at work, and it has my name written all over it. Before we paired the chambray top and black shoes with white shorts and a cheetah belt, now I'm pairing the top with a creamy sweater and olive green pants. The chambray top goes underneath the sweater to give it that preppy look and makes the collar really stand out. Make sure you roll up the sleeves to give it a little something extra. Olive green pants are a fall outfit essential, so make sure you got pick up a pair at your local LOFT!

If you're not into layers upon layers, go simple with the chambray shirt tucked in to the pants and make the statement necklace really stand out.

So, instead of getting rid of all of your summer clothing, just start pairing it with fall essentials to really expand your wardrobe!

Till next time!

One Direction Concert!

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

Hey everyone! I know it's been a while since I blogged last, but I keep telling myself I need to get back into it, and here I am! Last night I attended the One Direction concert, and let me tell you.. It was incredible. I've been a huge One Direction fan since they formed back in 2010 during the X Factor (UK). I have been able to seem them a total of three times, which doesn't seem like much but seeing them is like finding a pearl in an oyster. Ridiculously hard. I saw the back in 2012 for their Up All Night tour with my best friend. In 2013 I was able to see them on Good Morning America. Leaving the house at 4:00 AM was hard, but in the end was totally worth it. The experience of even getting to a GMA show itself is amazing, let alone seeing 1D. Last but not least, I saw them last night for their Where We Are tour! Five Seconds Of Summer opened up for them and they were very good! From what I've read, they are on their way to becoming very big too. Anyways, enough about me fangirling over my night.. Here's a picture that explains how epic the concert was.

Pretty amazing!

So this summer hasn't been as hot as previous summers we've had. So I was really in a pickle to decide what to wear. I didn't want to wear the basic shorts, white t-shirt and a flannel because that's what everyone expects you to wear to a concert. Especially to a tween concert, and unfortunately I'm not a tween anymore. So I went with a tunic that was previously owned by my mom, but she decided she would hand it over to me (yay!) It had lace at the bottom of the arms and all around the bottom. I wore leggings with it and a pair of cheetah flats to match my neutral tones. I paired it with my chunky coin necklace I got from Forever 21, and my brand new Kate Spade watch my boyfriend got for me.

Here's an overlook:

And here's a selfie just because ;)

Well that's it for now! Hope everyone has a great night!
Till next time,
xx Sarah Anne
